Things to Do

Relax with the sights and sounds of country life... lots of real wild flowers to look at… maybe a couple of chickens in the hen house with a rooster to wake you up in the morning… a cow or two with a calf grazing in the meadow or the hill in front of you. Depending on the season, you might experience a few piggies in the pig sty getting ready for the fall butchering holidays, some country cured ham for the Christmas and New Year's Holidays or maybe if a winter retreat is your taste, some snow covered hills beside the wood stove and some really good sled riding. Take a car ride out over the top of the Shade Mountain and see Mt. Pisgah Alter, with its beautiful mountain top vistas and enjoy the spectacular views of the Juniata Valley. Or you can visit Cocolamus Lake where you can fish for plenty of native species fish.

No trip to the country would be complete for an outdoorsman without a trip to Cocolamus Creek Supplies. One of the very few places where you can buy trapping supplies and get expert advice from this one of a kind hunting and trapping suppy store.

We are not far from plenty of things to do. We have a variety of restaurants with in a nice driving distance of 10 to 15 miles, with great home cooking such as, The Bread of Life, The Red Zone Sprots Bar and Grill, The Thompsontown Corner Deli, or The County Line Restaurant. If Italian is more your taste, we have Sal’s Original Italian Pizza in McAlisterville or The Richfield Original Italian Pizza. We are a diverse community with many churches to visit of most all faiths. With in a nice country drive of 25 to 30 miles, you can find the towns of Lewistown or Shamokin Dam with large shopping malls, fine dining or whatever you like for having just an old fashion relaxing time. We are only 45 miles to Harrisburg, our state's capital. We have two county grocery stores near by, Rosewood Market in McAlisterville and Schlegel's in East Salem.
